Transforming Lower Gornal: S&R Construction delivers flagship Pilates studio project

S&R Construction has successfully completed the transformation of a long-disused building in Lower Gornal into a high-spec, modern Pilates studio, marking another standout project for the company.

Working closely with client Lauren Sankey, the team delivered a full redevelopment of the Zoar Street site, turning a derelict, two-storey former office into a premium wellness destination. The extensive project, valued at over £750,000, included the creation of a 10-bed reformer studio, dedicated mat and personal training rooms, and an infrared sauna.

From structural work through to interior finishing, S&R Construction managed the entire build process over an intensive eight-month programme, breathing new life into a previously neglected property and raising the standard of local fitness facilities.

The completed studio, now home to ‘The Pilates Girl’, has already attracted more than 700 members and includes a purpose-built on-site crèche—demonstrating the versatility and attention to detail delivered throughout the project.

With further plans already in place to expand the site to include an organic café, S&R Construction continues to play a key role in supporting the growth and evolution of the development.
